Isla Incahuasi

At the core of the salt flat sits Isla Incahuasi, one of the main points of attraction for most tours of the Bolivian Salt Flats. The name Isla Incahuasi is Quechua for ‘house of the inca’. In the past, before there were motorised vehicles to carry people across the flats, Incahuasi was used as a place of refuge while crossing the salt flat.
